First of all, I wish you all a very Happy New Year, may it be amazing.
There, now that it’s done, let’s jump into the main subject.
In 2014, I rediscovered the pleasure of reading.
I was a little bookworm when I was a kid, always living in a story. If it wasn’t Harry Potter (funny how it always comes back to this right?), it was some other fantasy book with magic, dragons and unexplicable events that kept me up all night even on school nights. I sometimes was so desperate to know the end of a story that I would secretly take my books at school and sit on the ground reading instead of playing with my friends in primary school. And then I went to high school, put myself through a hell of a lot of drama and little by little, I stopped reading as much as I used to. Not that I didn’t like it anymore, I was still obsessed with the HP series, I simply didn’t realize at first. I was just so busy with everything else. I finally went to university, tried a few things before finding what was right for me and fully put myself into it. And then it happened: six months ago, I arrived in Montreal, went on with my studies and finally took the time to sit, grab a book, and read. Just read like I love to; in one go.
In 2015, I will hold on to this and attempt to achieve this challenge.
When I saw it on my facebook feed (via 9gag) I thought « hell yeah I’m gonna do it ». Oh, yes, it is gonna be hard (specially the part about the banned book), but it’s a whole year and I have a shelf full of books that are waiting for me. Better start now!
